In-Edit Barcelona 2024 closes its line-up with more than 40 films

19 September 20243 min read

After the first preview of the line-up last July, today we have the complete line-up for the 22nd edition of the In-Edit music documentary festival, which will take place from 23 October to 3 November at Mooby Aribau Multicines in Barcelona.

The big name in this new batch is the presentation of ‘La Joia‘, the documentary about Bad Gyal directed by David Camarero, which will also be the film in charge of the opening session. Also confirmed for the official programme are films about Mogwai, Pavement, country singer June Carter, singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco, classic rappers such as Notorious B.I.G., Method Man, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and hard rockers Steppenwolf.

As for the Spanish scene, in addition to the aforementioned documentary on Bad Gyal, we can look forward to the directorial debut of Antón Álvarez (C. Tangana) with his documentary on flamenco guitarist Yerai Cortés, as well as documentaries on Argentinean Waldo de los Ríos, the punk band Fuzztones, the songs of the anti-Francoist resistance or the story of Carles Sabater, singer of the Catalan rock band Sau.

On the other hand, among the various out-of-competition sections, ‘Seccion ETNIA BARCELONA presents: La Mirada’, with films about Peaches, model Anita Pallenberg and New York photographer James Hamilton.

Finally, this year we will also be able to enjoy exclusive screenings and live performances by some of the bands linked to the films. In-Edit 2024 will include the exclusive screening of ‘Estopa‘, the documentary about their 25th anniversary concert at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, with the Muñoz brothers in attendance, as well as the preview of a special from the Salvados programme ‘Supersubmarina: Cien maneras de volver’, also with the band, and the premiere of the series ‘From Dance to God’ by CaixaForum+.

In the live music section, Lagartija Nick from Granada will give an intimate trio performance (Antonio Arias, Eric Jiménez and Juan Codorniú) at the end of the screening of the documentary ‘Generación Lagartija‘, while the director of ‘Eno‘, Gary Hustwit, will remix Brian Eno‘s songs live on stage using artificial intelligence for the first time in Europe.

Season tickets for in-Edit Festival 2024 are now available on the festival’s official website. For those who can’t make it to Barcelona or have a busy schedule during those days, the free platform CaixaForum+ will offer 15 documentaries from the festival’s programme for free in Spain and Portugal from 18 November to 2 December.
