North America’s Kings of Leon have kicked off the new year in a big way. In a surprisingly disruptive quadruple whirl, they have announced their intention:
- New album and new label: Can We Please Have Fun (2024) is the title of their ninth studio album to be released on 10 May on Capitol Records. Recorded in Nashville with Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, Florence + the Machine), the band speak of a return to their roots. Vocalist Caleb Followill said, “It’s the most fun album I’ve ever been a part of” while his brother Nathan said, “It’s like allowing ourselves to be musically vulnerable I love it when a rock band isn’t afraid to admit that not every song has to be explosive.“.
- New single: “Mustang” is the first foretaste of the album, already available with a video clip that reminds us of the sound of the band’s first 2 albums.
- World Tour: Kings of Leon will embark on an international tour in 2024, with confirmed dates in North America and Europe (for now, a single show at BST Hyde Park in London on Sunday 30 June). Produced by Live Nation, the North American tour kicks off on 14 August.
