The Scottish band The Jesus And Mary Chain have announced to Time Out New York that they are preparing a new album, the first in 17 years since they publihed their last LP, Monki, in 1998. According to what lead singer Jim Reid has told: "It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see". "We got back together in 2007 and it was the plan then. We thought 'We've got a bunch of songs, this would make a pretty good Mary Chain album' – and then there was the usual slaps and scratches between my brother and myself. 'I wanna do it here' and 'I don't' and then it was all 'Fuck you' and swinging at each other. The usual shit basically.". The band, that were touring this year celebrating 30 anniversary of Psychocandy (You can read here our review of the show at Dutch festival Best Kept Secret), parted ways in 1999 and just this tour was useful for join all the components a little bit more: "We are kind of coming round to being in agreement, which is a bit weird for us" he commented. "There will be an album – we will get it together. I'm more convinced now than I ever have been that there will be a new Mary Chain album."
