This Saturday, just over five months after their successful performance at the London Calling October 2014, Californians Saint Motel returned to the small room of Paradiso in Amsterdam, this time for a longer concert and supported by the international recognition which have given their hit "My Type".
With their usual LED lights hanging microphones and drums, the band Go out on stage full of stamina , performing "Feed Me Now", which is probably the most danceable theme of their only LP Voyeur. Despite some small problems with the bass sound and voice (that would be recurrent during the first half of the concert), the overall sound was notable and favoured a party and dancing atmosphere that continued with "Honest Feedback". The most elegant "Benny Goodman", where it emphasized above all the sound of sax, and the catchy "Puzzle Pieces" with a few irresistible lines of keyboard, made the public got horney quickly dancing nonstop, so the arrival of the choruses of "Daydream / Wetdream / Nightmare" and the slow rhythms on "Ace in the Hole" were a bucket of cold water that nip in the bud the festive atmosphere of the show, in what was the only mistake of the concert.
Luckily for the public, the final of the show would return us the cheerful character typical of their concerts with a great performance of "Midnight Movies", with a chorus this time much closer and less solemn , and also the excellent "Cold Cold Man" in which the voice of A /J Jackson merged seamlessly with the different lines of bass, keyboards and drums. Behind it the American band reserved us the interpretation of their biggest hit, "My Type", which made the whole room to dance at once with that saxophone so characteristic that marks the rhythm of the song that made the audience fall head over heels for the band. The icing on the cake after about one hour concert come with the interpretation of one of their first songs, "Stories", showing the most rock side of the band and closing a concert that shows that this is one of the bands to follow closely both the quality of their sound as well as for their undeniable ability to connect with audiences, although small mistakes as the one we mentioned with the setlist leave us a little bitter aftertaste that prevents us scoring the concert as absolute success.
